The Best Deck On Earth: Anglers Rest

My girlfriend and I stayed at the property of Jeff and Carrie for a week over new year this summer. We had an amazing time and will be sure to head back there sometime, it was our own private paradise for the time that we spent there. The house that they designed and built is beautiful and very eco friendly and it overlooks incredible mountainous tree covered terrain. Just down from the house, literally a stones throw, is the Bundara river which is one my all time favourite swimming experiences, it's full of giant boulders and little waterfalls forming lots of rocky coves to explore and laze in the sun and water. Jeff and Carrie have many great recommendations for interesting local places to see, all of which we checked out and it was always worth it. They are great company and a perfect balance was struck between having plenty of privacy for our holiday and also appreciating friendly and interesting conversation with them on the most wondrous verandah amongst the gums, with the gentle sound of rushing water in the background.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Jeff and Carrie's house for two nights. We wished we could have spent longer there and were already discussing about possibly coming back again for a week or so later in the future. The unit is cosy and lovely but the location is absolutely amazing. It overlooks an amazing river, followed by a mountain covered in trees. The first morning we were there, there was a fog covering a distant mountain and you could smell the gumtrees in the air. It was just an absolutely beautiful experience. And both of us loved the river right beside the house! It was amazing to swim/explore/laze and we spent hours there, just frolicking in the water. There was also blackberries grown by the river so, yey, free (organic) snacks! Jeff emailed me a few hiking suggestions and one of them was on a cliff, overlooking another river and that was absolutely breathtaking. It was just a lovely experience overall and Jeff had always been very friendly and prompt with his replies. I'm sorry this review came in late, by the way! Thank you so much for renting us the house; it was a beautiful and memorable trip!

“Jeff & Carrie were wonderfully accommodating to our small family after we made a last minute booking. The apartment is well equiped, comfortable and very clean (not easy so deep in the bush). The location above the river is breathtaking and I spent many hours on the "best deck in the world" reading and sipping a cold beer, occasionally remembering to look at the amazing view. We cooled off most days with a dip in the pristine river. The property is powered by a mix of hydro and solar and its a real thrill to stay in my first full off grid house (one that is still very comfortable). Jeff & Carrie are an inspiring couple and it was a real privilege to meet them. ”
